GBASS Festival
Catch, Measure, Photo and Release Guidelines
A clear photograph of the fish, correctly placed on the measure, is critical for your entry into the competition. It is your responsibility to ensure you provide an image that we can use to validate your entry. You can send the picture to gbassfestival@icloud.com.
Checklist for the Catch – Measure – Photo – Release Competition
1. Make sure your photo is of sufficient quality to enable us to verify the length. MINIMUM LENGTH 52CM.
2. The photo should be submitted in ‘landscape’ form with your registration card clearly visible
3. Take several photos just in case and be aware of shadows falling across the measure obscuring the numbers
4. The lower jaw of the bass must touch the edge of the L shape on the end of the official measure. It is permissible to place a hand or have someone hold the fish on the measure to settle it whilst a photo is taken. If you do this, you must ensure you do not obscure the fish significantly or prevent the GBASS Committee from being able to validate your catch
5. The bass will be measured from the snout to the tip of the tail. Please ensure the tip of the longest part of the tail is visible on the measure
6. Ensure the measure is kept flat and is not bent, preventing a proper reading
7. Anyone who set either nets or trot from the foreshore of the Bailiwick of Guernsey are not allowed to enter the competition. Any entrant found to have been doing so will be automatically disqualified.
8. Only bass released alive can be entered into the competition –NO DEAD FISH PLEASE!
Please note that your fish may not be eligible for entry if it does not meet the criteria as stated above. The GBASS Committee reserve the right to disqualify any bass that does not meet the correct criteria. Likewise, they reserve the right to allow entry of a bass not presented correctly if it can be determined that a suitable reduction in length can be made. By registering for the GBASS Open Festival, you are agreeing to abide by the rules, terms and conditions.
