Why Join GBASS

We strive to promote sport fishing for Bass in Guernsey, we are conservation minded and like to encourage catch and release. However, we also support the right for anglers to put fish on the table but in line with the scientific advice we are Catch and Release only in February and March. Most of our competitions only accept recorded catches which are caught and released.

 

Whether you are a shore, boat or kayak angler there is place for you in the Club - there are  many different categories of competition throughout the year.

There are year long competitions, including best five specimen fish, the winter cup, spring shield and autumn cup as well as monthly weekend competitions. The Club's flagship event is the Open Bass Festival held in August each year.

There are social evenings to meet up and chat bass and also a Herm weekend every year.

​

Whilst the Club is competitive, it also welcomes juniors and the more laid back infrequent angler who fishes for fun and just enjoys being out on the coast. Above all it is inclusive for anyone interested in learning more about angling for bass.
